Error code list for P.A. Soft BMW Scanner v1.3.6

This simple scanner is a beautiful tool to scan a lot of units in your BMW, clear the errors, etc.

But the lack of a description of the error codes didin't allow the understanding of what is wrong, and eventually how to correct the problem. This website is created with the aim to write the most comprehensive and complete list of description of the error codes of this unit.
Any kind of contribution / question / suggestion will be appreciated!

To contribute to this website (growing this list), please send to me your error codes + informations following the format of the table at this email address: damon@bonesi.ch completed with any kind of informations you think is relevant, and even if you don't know what is it, describe what you're experiencing, and what you did till now to solve the problem.

Your informations will be added to this database. Thanks a lot and enjoy your BMW! Damon

This tool is in BETA TEST - still incomplete!

This small form show a translation from P.A. Soft error codes based on some - unverified - tables. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I can’t verify every single entry. Use only to have an approximative idea, hold in mind that it can be a completely wrong description! It is still in development!

From my own experiences / researches:

Unit Error dec/hex Parameter dec/hex BMW Model Year What is it What I’m experiencing Where is the fault How to solve Notes
SRS 24/0018 66/42 E39 528i Touring 1998 Central unit under the passenger seat disconnected The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster The cable connected to the unit under the passenger seat was disconnected Check wires and reconnect I disconnected the cable by hand to find which error was generating
SRS 6/0006 66/42 E39 528i Touring 1998 Belt lock unit in the passenger seat disconnected The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster The cable connected to the unit under the passenger seat was disconnected Check wires and reconnect I disconnected the cable by hand to find which error was generating
SRS 5/0005 66/42 E39 528i Touring 1998 Belt lock unit in the driver seat disconnected The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster The cable connected to the unit under the driver seat was disconnected Check wires and reconnect I disconnected the cable by hand to find which error was generating
SRS 33/0021 18/12 E39 528i Touring 1998 Fuse no. 42 in the fuse box on the passenger side The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster Fuse Replace the fuse I disconnected the cable by hand to find which error was generating
SRS 32/0020 18/12 E39 528i Touring 1998 Fuse no. 42 in the fuse box on the passenger side The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster Fuse Replace the fuse I disconnected the cable by hand to find which error was generating
SRS 14/000E 144/90 or 16/10 or 18/12 E39 528i Touring 1998   The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster The car battery voltage is too low (11.76V) Clean battery connectors if is the case / replace the battery When the battery is too low, there are some "unreal" errors caused by a wrong sensor readings of the SRS system
Here some photos of the cause of this error on my car
IKE 191/00BF 72/48 E39 528i Touring 1998 I think this error is a signal than the Airbag error was up on the instrument cluster The red airbag alarm turn on on the instrument cluster - Solve others errors in a way that no one alarm is on on the instrument cluster, then reset this error I'm not 100% sure about this, for me it worked
DME 83 53 E39 528i Touring 1997 Faulty Crankshaft position sensor Engine that doesn’t start at all or hardly shut down when driving (it can resume a fraction of second later or not). You see in the RPM gauge the cursor dropping to zero like it turns off). A complete failure of this sensor means that you cannot turn on yoour engine. Another important thing: NO engine check light on! In the crankshaft sensor Change the Crankshaft position sensor, check the wiring and contacts, if you can check the correct signal pattern in the flywheel head Error description found in internet - VERIFIED as true (I had this fault in my car)
DME 228 177/B1 E39 528i 2000 Fuel control Bank 2 sensor 1 Service Amber Light - Please help!
DME 227 177/B1 E39 528i 2000 Fuel control Bank 1 sensor 1 Service Amber Light - Please help!
DME 65 184/B8 E39 528i 2000 Camshaft position Sensor 'A' Bank 1 or Single Sensor Service engine Soon light - Please help!
DME 65 41 E39 528i Touring 1997 Faulty Camshaft position sensor Engine that doesn’t turn well (sometimes cylinder misfire), loss of power (not complete, just like driving something like a 70HP car), gas kickdown with slower than normal engine response. BMW tech explained me that when DME detect abnormal sensor response, it goes in "safe mode" allowing you to drive, but in a relaxed and safer way for the engine. Another important thing: NO engine check light on! In the camshaft sensor Change the Camshaft position sensor, check the wiring and contacts, if you can check the correct signal pattern in the flywheel head Error VERIFIED by me as true (I had this fault in my car)

ABS 17/FF and 70/FE 255/FF E39 525i 2001 Variant coding 'Error plus CAN instrument cluster' ABS module Trying to work it out The module was working fine. I read the memory and the resultant file (epb) was saved on the PC. I accidentally wrote to the memory with the same file but a few seconds later then the PA Soft came back with a notification of a comms failure. A hard alarm now appears in the ABS module fault log. It can be cleared but returns when a read is preformed. The ASC function does not work and the ABS does not appear to cut in under a hard breaking condition. The CAN instrument cluster error I am confident is just a by product alarm of the ASC in error.
